Savon Presents: Bramble Berry Embed Challenge Soap

We are near the end of the Bramble Berry Embed Challenge and I only have one entry to share.  I struggled with this one.  I could blame it on a busy work or family schedule but really – I lacked inspiration.  And I don’t know why!

There were some amazing entries and if you want to view some of them click here.  This should connect you to a Facebook photo gallery that Bramble Berry posted.

Here is my solo entry…

A few weeks ago, I saw a nail design that I immediately thought would make a great soap.  It’s hard to tell in the photo but the base of the soap is actually a deep purple/gray.   I’m looking forward to the next Bramble Berry challenge.

Until next time – bon savon!

Savon Presents: Pink Sugar Soap

Pink Sugar Soap is fully cured and ready for a new home.

From the pink embed, to the sassy soap balls on top – this project was all about fun.  Each bar is hand cut and ranges in weight from a whopping 200 to 215 grams.

I do want to mention that the cuts are pretty rustic (code for uneven :) ), but the soap smells amazing – and the lather isn’t grey.  (Soapers will understand why I’m proud of that fact).  The recipe is a combination of saponified oils of olive, coconut, palm and castor.  The fragrance is described as a blend of cotton candy, lemon drops, caramel and raspberry jam on a dry down of musks.  Bottom line – this fragrance smells a lot like Aquolina’s Pink Sugar.

Pink Sugar Soap is $6.25 per bar, plus shipping and is available in my Etsy shop.  Until next time – bon savon!

Savon Presents: Orange & Yuzu Soap

I cannot believe that a month has passed since I made Orange & Yuzu Soap.   This was a project based on the Soap Queen tutorial for Sunshine Soap.

I mixed things up a bit and used my recipe of olive, coconut, palm, castor and vitamin e.  I also used a different embed.  Take a look at the photo…..

Orange and Yuzu Soap is $6.25 each plus shipping.

Until next time – bon savon!

Savon Presents: Sunrise Soap (a Challange Soap)

My landscape challenge soap has fully cured and is ready for a new home.

In late May, Amy Warden announced the Landscape Challenge, for which I created the below soap.  This was the first time I’d done anything like this and it was a great experience.  As you’ll see in the photo below, things didn’t turn out exactly right, but it was a lot of fun to do.  You can read my original blog post here.  Take a look at the photo…

I only made four of these and have two left.  If interested, please send me a message or comment.

Until next time – bon savon!

Savon Presents: Spiced Carrot & Black Raspberry Vanilla Soaps

Today I have two new soaps fully cured and ready for sale.  They are Spiced Carrot Soap and Black Raspberry Vanilla Soap.

Spiced Carrot Soap is very special because it is formulated with carrot seed oil and scented with a fragrance that reminds me of Origin’s Ginger.  This soap is priced higher to cover the cost of the carrot seed oil - $6.75 per bar plus shipping.

Black Raspberry Vanilla Soap is formulated with my go-to recipe; saponified oils of olive, coconut, palm, palm kernel, almond and mango butter.  The fragrance is more berry than vanilla – but oh so good. :)   Black Raspberry Vanilla Soap is $5.25 per bar plus shipping.

I wanted to explain my pricing.  You may notice that my soaps are priced higher on Etsy than on the blog.  If you contact me direct, I will charge my ‘market price’ which is what I charge at shows, expos, and farmer’s markets.  If you purchase through Etsy, I have to mark up the price to cover the cost of listing and promoting.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Until next time – bon savon!

Savon Presents: Pink “Ombre” Grapefruit Soap

Pink “Ombre” Grapefruit Soap is fully cured and ready for shipment.  This soap was one of the challenge projects and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.  You can read the original post here.  Below are a few photos.

I have added this item to my Etsy shop, which is a work in progress.  In order to cover listing and processing fees, I’ve had to increase my prices to $6.25.  However, for my loyal blog readers, please use coupon code “BlogReader” for a 15% discount.  I also wanted to mention that I will charge actual shipping costs and will refund any overage that might occur by purchasing through Etsy.  I’ll get all this Etsy ‘stuff’ figured out eventually :) .  Thanks for your patience!

Savon Presents: Lavender-Chamomile & Blue Skies

It’s ready – it’s finally ready :) .  I’m so excited to share with you that Lavender-Chamomile is fully cured.  You can read the blog post here and a photo is available below.

I’m also excited to share that Blue Skies is ready (I’m a little late posting this one).  This fragrance is a departure from my normal ‘citrus’ theme and I was so pleased with how well the swirls turned out.  You can read the blog post here and a photo is below.

Both soaps are $5.25 each plus shipping.  Please leave a comment if you’d like to try a bar.

Until next time – bon savon!

Savon Presents: Big Top Circus

I don’t know why this soap reminds me of the circus, but it does.  It must be the bright colors :) .   I’ve decided to call it – Big Top Circus.

To continue my youthful theme, this soap is scented with a combination of fresh bananas, grapefruit, kiwi, bubblegum and strawberries. The technique used is Spoon Swirl. It’s a process of slowly layering and swirling color using a spoon. It sounds like a simple technique (and for the most part, it is), but it takes practice to create beautiful swirls, not to mention a fragrance that cooperates. I’ve got some practicing to do.

If you’d like to see other soaps created using the spoon swirl technique, take a look at Celene Blacow’s work.  She is probably one of the best spoon swirlers that I’ve seen.  You can read her blog here or shop her store here.  I have a bar of her Adam & Eve and I love it.

This soap is ready and available, so if you’re interested in owning a bar of your very own please send me a message.  Until next time – bon savon!
